Efterklang‘s new album Magic Chairs has elevated the Danish collective from best-kept-secret to next-big-thing. They’ve worked with chamber choirs and children’s orchestras, and this year will see them skyrocket into the ranks of the indie elite. A surefire win for the end of SXSW.

Songs possess one of the most difficult band names to google (like of all time), but they’re entirely worth the effort. Our friend Pat gushes “Their songs a practically perfect, straddling the line between lo-fi, garage rock, and more polished, arena worthy pop rock.” We think 2010 is going to be huge for Songs.

Peggy Wang is the cute keyboardist from Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Shirley Braha is the cute producer behind stalwart NYC public access music program New York Noise (as well as Party a Day). They are the forces behind a monthly ’90s nostalgia party called All That in Brooklyn. These ladies will keep the jams pumping.
The Growlers are noise bandits who travel the country in a patched-together schoolbus–if that’s not enough of an easy sell, their explosive live performances will definitely do the trick. They’re basically the audio equivalent of sneaking out of your parents house as a teenager, hijacking a motorcycle, and racing to a house party in the middle of nowhere.

Random Fact: In their spare time they read to the elderly and wrestle sharks (yeah Dana Point!)
‘SUP Relation: We found out about the Growlers while interviewing the Entrance Band- sometimes stuff just drops in our lap.
Slow Club‘s rambled-up Americana folk isn’t what you’d expect from a couple of kids straight outta the UK, but as the Moshi Moshi-signees have attested with various kinetic live shows, you should never judge a book by its cover. Their album Yeah So makes its US debut at the end of March.

The Growlers play at 2 PM – one of the best new live bands we’ve seen in ages! Complete strangers start to dance with each other. It’s serious fun.
The Burning Hotels bring the power pop like the old school cats used to in the ’80s and ’90s: guitar hooks that mutate from lil’ rock pupae to full grown earworms directly in the folds of your brain. Their set should cement what the Lone Star State has known for a while: the Hotels are a force to be reckoned with.
